This drug is an inhibitor of carbonic anhydrase, which causes an increased amount of fluid to be present in the eye. Hence, this medicine works by reducing the amount of fluid present in the eye, which further leads to a reduction in the ocular pressure.

How Azopt Eye Drop working?
Azopt Eye Drop is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. It works by decreasing the production of aqueous humour (fluid in the eye), thereby lowering the increased eye pressure.
How is Azopt Eye Drop used?
This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off extra liquid.

Use this medicine exactly as prescribed. Do not administer in larger or smaller amounts than advised/prescribed. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable side effects. Ensure that the treatment course is completed. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Contraindication Of Azopt Eye Drop
Hypersensitivity to Azopt Eye Drop is a contraindication. In addition, Azopt Eye Drop should not be used if you have the following conditions:
- Adolescents under the age of 18 years
- Infected eyes
- Kidney problem

Special Precautions And Related Warnings Of Azopt Eye Drop
Azopt Eye Drop may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Azopt Eye Drop is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
When applying multiple eye medications, wait for at least 5-15 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the drop. This minimizes the risk of side effects.
Remove contact lenses before using Betagan and allow at least 15 minutes before re-inserting them.

Store at room temperature or in a refrigerator. Do not freeze.
