Carditrex injection is used single or together with other drug to treat many types of cancer, such as chest , head and neck, lung, lifeblood, bone, lymph node, and uterus crab.Carditrexis also used to treat grownup with severe rheumatoid arthritis and kids with polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis who had other treatments that did not work well.It is also used to control symptoms of severe psoriasis in adults who have not been helped by other treatments.

Uses of Carditrex 2.5 mg

Methotrexate is used to treat severe psoriasis (a skin illness in which red, scaly patches form on some areas of the figure) that cannot be controlled by other treatments.

Methotrexate is also used along with rest, physical therapy, and sometimes other medications to treat severe active rheumatoid arthritis  that cannot be controlled by certain other medications. Methotrexate is also used to treat certain types of cancer including cancers that begin in the tissues that form around a fertilized egg in the uterus, breast cancer, lung cancer, certain cancers of the head and neck, sure types of lymphoma, and leukemia .

What is Carditrex 2.5 mg?

Carditrex is an antimetabolite, curative in choriocarcinoma (cancer of the tissue that normally would develop into placenta). It is also used in other cancers like blood, breast and lung cancers. It is also used to suppress immunity in conditions such as psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis.

How Carditrex 2.5 mg working

Antineoplastic and immunosuppressant antagonist of the ac. folic Interferes in processes of DNA synthesis, repair and cellular replication; It can decrease the development of malignant tissues without irreversible damage in normal tissues.

How is Carditrex 2.5 mg used?

15 to 30 mg IM or orally per diem for 5 days. Repeat courses 3 to 5 times with a ease period of greater than or equal to 1 week between courses, until any manifesting toxic manifestation subside.

Effectiveness of therapy is ordinarily evaluated by 24 hour quantitative analysis of urinary chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which generally will return to normal or less than 50 intl units/24 hours usually after the third or fourth course and usually followed by a complete resolution of computable lesions in 4 to 6 weeks.

Carditrex 2.5 mg Indications

  • Toxicity increased by: NSAIDs, salicylates, phenylbutazone, phenytoin, sulfonamides, proton pump inhibitors, folate deficiency.
  • Intestinal absorption decreased by: tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, broad spectrum antibiotics.
  • Increased nephrotoxicity with: cisplatin.
  • Increase plasma levels of: mercaptopurine (requires dose adjustment).
  • Decreased clearance of: theophylline.
  • Increased hepatoxicity with: leflunomide, azathioprine, sulfalazine, retinoids.
  • Increases the risk of pancytopenia with: leflunomide.
  • Increase risk of soft tissue necrosis and osteonecrosis with: radiotherapy.

Contraindication Of Carditrex 2.5 mg

Hypersensitivity to methotrexate, pregnancy, lactation, severe IR, severe IH, ulcers of the oral cavity and enf. known active gastrointestinal ulcer, concurrent vaccination with attenuated live microorganism vaccines. Pre-existing blood dyscrasias such as bone marrow depression, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia or significant anemia. Serious, acute or chronic epidemic such as tuberculosis, HIV or other immunodeficiency condition.

Special Precautions And relative Warnings Of Carditrex 2.5 mg

IR, IH Risk of fatal toxicity related to involuntary daily rather than weekly administration. Monitoring should be performed to detect toxic effects as soon as possible, complete blood count, platelet differential count, liver enzymes, hepatitis B or C infection tests, renal function tests, chest x-ray and liver biopsy if necessary.

Risk of toxic epidermal necrolysis (S. Lyell), s. of Stevens-Johnson and erythema multiforme.

Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have only been established in antineoplastic chemotherapy and juvenile idiopathic arthritis of polyarticular evolution.
