What is Emeset 4mg?
Emeset Tablet is used to prevent nausea and vomiting related to highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy, including cisplatin greater than or equal to 50 mg/m2. It is a prescription medicine. This medicine works by blocking the release of serotonin which may stimulate the vagal afferents through the 5-HT3 receptors and begin the vomiting reflex. Emeset is also used to prevent nausea and vomiting related with initial and repeat courses of adequate emetogenic cancer chemotherapy. It is also used to prevent nausea and vomiting related with high doses of radiation (radiotherapy) in patients having either total body exposure to radiation (irradiation), single high-dose fraction to the stomach, or daily fractions to the stomach.
How Emeset 4mg working
Emeset 4 Tablet is an antiemetic medication. It works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the brain that may cause nausea and vomiting during anti-cancer treatment (chemotherapy) or after surgery.
How is Emeset 4mg used?
Emeset is used with or without food. Absorption of Emeset increases in the presence of food and unaffected by antacids. To take Emeset orally disintegrating tablet, place it on the top of the tongue with dry hands and swallow with saliva. It is not necessary to take Emeset with water.
The typical dose of Emeset for adults is 24 mg of Emeset is to be given 30 minutes before starting the therapy in case of highly emetogenic chemotherapy and 8 mg of Emeset to be given in the same way, followed by 8 mg dose after 8 hours of the first dose. The usual dose for children is 8 mg is given 30 minutes before the start of the therapy, followed by 8 mg dose 4 and 8 hours after the first dose, then giving 8 mg thrice a day after completion of therapy in case of 12-18 years of children and for patients of 4-11 years, 4 mg is given 30 minutes before the start of therapy, followed by 4mg dose 4 and 8 hours after the first dose, then 4 mg dose given thrice a day for 1 to 2 days after completion of chemotherapy. The maximum dose for adult patients of Emeset is 32 mg per day. Emeset is commonly used at the same time every day. If you have been prescribed Emeset for chemotherapy then you have to use this medicine at the same time on every chemo cycle. This medicine is not known to be addictive or habit-forming.

Emeset Tablet is not safe for use in women who are pregnant. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, you should discuss the impact on the fetus with your doctor before you start using this medicine. There is no appropriate data available on safety of Emeset during pregnancy. Emeset Tablet is not safe for use in women who are breastfeeding. If you are breastfeeding, discuss with your doctor if you should either discontinue breastfeeding, or stop using this medicine during this period. It is not known if this medicine is safe for use in women who are conceiving. Consult with your doctor before you use Emeset Tablet.
