Gentamicin Eye Drop is used to treat bacterial infections (such as blepharitis, conjunctivitis) of the eye and the skin around the eyes (such as eyelids). It is also used to prevent infection after eye injury or surgery. It belongs to a class of drugs known as aminoglycoside antibiotics. Gentamicin works by killing the bacteria.
What is Gentamicin Eye Drop?
Gentamicin Eye Drop is used for Treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus species, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella species, Enterobacter species, Serratia species, Citrobacter species and staphylococcus species and other conditions. How is Gentamicin Eye Drop used?
This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off extra liquid.

Hypersensitivity to Gentamicin Eye Drop is a contraindication. In addition, Gentamicin Eye Drop should not be used if you have the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to gentamicin or to other aminoglycosides

Special Precautions And Related Warnings Of Gentamicin Eye Drop
Pregnancy - This medicine is not recommended for pregnant women.
Breast-feeding - Small amounts of this medicine is excreted in the human breast milk. Discuss with the doctor about benefits and risks. Monitoring of undesired effects like diarrhea, candidiasis is necessary.
Hearing loss - Gentamicin Eye Drop is not recommended in the patients with existing kidney injury or hearing problem it may increase the risk of deafness.
Impaired kidney function - Gentamicin Eye Drop may increase the risk of kidney injury especially when high doses are used or when the treatment prolongs for a longer time. Suitable dose adjustments are to be made based on the CrCl.
Neuromuscular disorders - Gentim 0.3% Eye Drops is not recommended in the patients with existing neuromuscular diseases like Parkinson's disease.
Drug-resistance - Usage of Gentamicin Eye Drop without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that is drug resistant.

Store at 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F)
