this tablet helps to treat an underactive thyroid. It alters or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally made by the thyroid gland. Liothyronine is a man-made form of thyroid hormone. Low thyroid hormone levels can occur naturalize or when the thyroid gland is injured by medicament or removed by surgery.
Thyroid hormone production belongs to two medicine: original hormonal preparations derived from animal thyroid, and synthetic production. original preparations include desiccated thyroid and thyroglobulin. Desiccated thyroid is derived from domesticated animals that are used for food by man, and thyroglobulin is derived from thyroid glands of the hog.
The mechanisms by which thyroid hormones exert their physiologic action are not well understood. These hormones enhance oxygen use by most tissues of the body, raise the basal metabolic rate and the metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. Thus, they exert a profound influence on every organ system in the body and are of particular importance in the development of the central nervous system.
