Trajenta 5 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is used in addition to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

What is Trajenta 5 mg?

Trajenta 5Mg Tablet is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor. It is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is a type of antidiabetic medication used in case proper diet and exercise alone is not sufficient to control and curb diabetes. Trajenta 5mg Tablet works by stimulating increase in the insulin secretion and decrease in sugar produced by your body.

If you have type 1 diabetes, have diabetic ketoacidiosis (high levels of blood ketone), or if you are allergic to Trajenta 5mg Tablet or any ingredient in it then you should refrain from using it. You should consult you doctor first, before using Trajenta 5mg Tablet if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, breastfeeding, have history of pancreatitis or angioedema, or if you are taking any medicines, supplements or herbal preparations.

How is Trajenta 5 mg used?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Trajenta 5 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Special Precautions And Related Warnings Of Trajenta 5 mg

General

Linagliptin should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.

Hypoglycaemia

Linagliptin alone showed a comparable incidence of hypoglycaemia to placebo.

In clinical trials of linagliptin as part of combination therapy with medicinal products not known to cause hypoglycaemia (metformin), rates of hypoglycaemia reported with linagliptin were similar to rates in patients taking placebo.

When linagliptin was added to a sulphonylurea (on a background of metformin), the incidence of hypoglycaemia was increased over that of placebo
