Uses of Xarelto 15 mg
Rivaroxaban is used to prevent blood clots from forming due to a certain irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) or after hip or knee replacement surgery. It is also used to treat blood clots (such as in deep vein thrombosis-DVT or pulmonary embolus-PE) and to prevent the blood clots from forming again.
What is Xarelto 15 mg?
Xarelto 15 mg Tablet is an anticoagulant that is used to treat and prevent blood clots in conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and atrial fibrillation (AFib). Close monitoring of liver and kidney function is recommended during treatment with this medicine. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age.

How is Xarelto 15 mg used?
It is used to:
- reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots in people who have a medical condition called atrial fibrillation with atrial fibrillation
- treat blood clots in the veins of your legs (deep vein thrombosis or DVT) or lungs (pulmonary embolism or PE) and reduces the risk of blood clots

Xarelto 15 mg Dosage
Xarelto is available in 10, 15, and 20 milligram (mg) tablets that you take by mouth.
For treating DVT or PE, the typical dose is 15 mg twice daily with food for the first 21 days. After that, people usually take 20 mg once a day for the remainder of their treatment.
For nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, the typical starting dose is either 15 or 20 mg once in the evening, with a meal.
To prevent DVT or PE, people usually take 10 mg of Xarelto once a day, with or without food.
After hip or knee replacement surgery, the usual recommendation is to start treatment at least 6 to 10 hours after surgery. People who've had a hip replacement generally are prescribed 10 mg of the drug for 35 days.

Types of drugs that interact with Xarelto include:
- Other blood thinners
- Drugs used to treat blood or circulation problems
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Certain heart medications
- Anti-seizure drugs, such as carbamazepine (Tegretol)
- Antifungal medications
- Drugs used to treat HIV
- St. John's wort

Special Precautions And Related Warnings Of Xarelto 15 mg
Before taking rivaroxaban, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease, kidney disease, bleeding problems (such as bleeding of the stomach/intestines, bleeding in the brain), stroke, recent major injury/surgery, blood disorders (such as anemia, hemophilia, thrombocytopenia), frequent falls/injuries, certain eye problem (retinopathy), certain hereditary enzyme problems (such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption).
It is important that all your doctors and dentists know that you take rivaroxaban. Before having surgery or any medical/dental procedures, tell your doctor or dentist that you are using this medication.
This medication may cause stomach bleeding. Daily use of alcohol while using this medicine will increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Limit alcoholic beverages. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about how much alcohol you may safely drink.
This medication can cause bleeding. To lower the chance of getting cut, bruised, or injured, use great caution with sharp objects like safety razors and nail cutters. Use an electric razor when shaving and a soft toothbrush when brushing your teeth. Avoid activities such as contact sports. If you fall or injure yourself, especially if you hit your head, contact your doctor right away. Your doctor may need to check you for hidden bleeding that could be serious.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or if you plan to become pregnant. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor before using this medication.
