Uses of Xarelto 15 mg

Rivaroxaban is used to prevent blood clots from forming due to a certain irregular heartbeat  or after hip or knee replacement surgery. It is also used to treat blood clots and to prevent the blood clots from forming again.

What is Xarelto 15 mg?

Xarelto 15 mg Tablet is an anticoagulant that is used to treat and prevent blood clots in conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, and atrial fibrillation (AFib). Close monitoring of liver and kidney function is recommended during treatment with this drug. This drug is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age.

How is Xarelto 15 mg used?

• reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots in folk who have a medical condition called atrial fibrillation with atrial fibrillation
• treat blood clots in the veins of your legs or lungs and reduces the risk of blood clots

Dosage

Xarelto is available in 10, 15, and 20 milligram (mg) tablets that you take by mouth.

For treating DVT or PE, the typical dose is 15 mg twice daily with food for the first 21 days. After that, people usually take 20 mg once a day for the remainder of their treatment.

For nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, the typical inception dose is either 15 or 20 mg once in the evening, with a meal.

To prevent DVT or PE, people usually take 10 mg of Xarelto once a day, with or without food.

After hip or knee replacement surgery, the usual recommendation is to start treatment at least 6 to 10 hours after surgery. People who've had a hip replacement generally are prescribed 10 mg of the drug for 35 days.

• Bleeding gums
• Weakness

Precautions And Warnings

Before taking rivaroxaban, tell your health care physician or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This manufacture may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease, kidney disease, bleeding problems, stroke, recent major injury/surgery, blood disorders, frequent falls/injuries, certain eye problem, certain hereditary enzyme problems.This medication may cause stomach bleeding. Daily use of alcohol while using this drug will increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Limit alcoholic beverages. Ask your health care physician or pharmacist about how much alcohol you may safely drink.
